Texas Brine began its Responsible Care journey shortly after joining the American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade group dedicated to industry safety, environmental performance and product quality, in the late 1980s. At about the same time, ACC adopted the Responsible Care initiative as the EHS standard for the U.S. chemical industry.
Responsible Care encompasses safety, environment, transportation, product safety, process safety, security, community outreach and emergency response. Furthermore, all member companies are required to conduct third-party audits on at least one third of their operations every year to independently certify their compliance with all program and management requirements.
Since the early 1990s, Texas Brine has worked to further enhance its EHS programs, including policies, procedures, training, preparedness and performance tracking. The foundation of this enhancement effort is the requirement for every employee to complete their annual EHS training requirements. This training routinely includes knowledge-based retention tests and is tailored to the needs of each job in the company. Course delivery methods include a combination of classroom, virtual and computer-based modules.
